Job Role : Safety Officer in a sugar factory is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by implementing and monitoring health and safety policies across all operations. They identify workplace hazards, conduct safety inspections, and ensure compliance with industrial safety regulations. The role involves training employees, investigating incidents, and promoting a strong safety culture to prevent accidents and ensure smooth plant operations.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments
  • Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with industrial safety regulations and standards
  • Monitor use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Conduct safety training and awareness programs for workers
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses
  • Maintain safety records and prepare reports
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals and materials
  • Coordinate emergency response plans and drills
  • Monitor machinery safety and operational practices
  • Liaise with management and regulatory authorities
  • Promote a safety-first culture among employees
  • Ensure fire safety systems are in place and functional
  • Conduct audits and continuous improvement of safety practices
