Cashier
Job Role : Cashier in a supermarket is responsible for handling customer billing and payment transactions accurately and efficiently. The role involves scanning products, processing cash and digital payments, issuing receipts, maintaining the cash register, and ensuring a smooth checkout experience. The Cashier also assists customers with basic inquiries, maintains billing accuracy, and supports overall store operations by providing friendly and professional service.
Key Responsibilities :
- Greet customers politely at the checkout counter
- Scan items and ensure accurate billing Process cash, credit/debit card, and digital payments
- Issue receipts and handle returns or exchanges
- Maintain correct cash balance in the register
- Count cash at the beginning and end of shifts
- Handle customer queries related to billing
- Ensure proper bagging and packing of products
- Maintain cleanliness of the billing counter area
- Follow store policies and cash handling procedures
- Report discrepancies or technical issues to supervisor
- Support promotional campaigns at checkout counters
- Maintain records of transactions and daily sales
- Assist in stock checking when required
- Provide excellent customer service to enhance shopping experience
