Junior Highway Engineer
Job Role : Junior Highway Engineer supports the planning, design, and execution of highway and road construction projects. The role involves assisting senior engineers with surveying, preparing drawings, monitoring site activities, ensuring quality and safety compliance, and coordinating with contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist in preparing geometric designs, alignment plans, cross-sections, and pavement layouts.
Support surveying activities, including data collection, setting out, and verification of levels.
Coordinate with contractors and site supervisors to ensure work is executed as per drawings and specifications.
Monitor daily site progress and report deviations or technical issues to senior engineers.
Assist in preparing BOQs, quantity estimates, and material requirements for highway works.
Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and project specifications.
Conduct inspections for earthwork, subgrade, GSB, WMM, DBM, and BC layers in road construction.
Review test reports for materials such as aggregates, bitumen, and soil.
Maintain proper documentation including site diaries, progress reports, and checklists.
Support senior engineers in resolving site-related technical challenges.

- Other Skill Required: Basic understanding of highway materials like soil, aggregates, and bitumen. Ability to perform level checks and assist in setting out works. Familiarity with material testing procedures (soil compaction, sieve analysis, etc.). Good understanding of road construction layers (subgrade, GSB, WMM, DBM, BC). Ability to prepare daily progress and quality reports. Basic knowledge of IRC/MORTH specifications. Willingness to learn new construction technologies and site practices. Ability to coordinate with contractors, lab technicians, and site supervisors. Strong time-management skills for handling site tasks efficiently. Adaptability to work in field conditions and remote project locations.
